Can anyone tell me

Can anyone tell my why socks disappear? I seems to me like every time I buy new socks they disappear shortly after the first time in the washer. Now does the washer or dryer eat them or do they just hide? I am so tired of not being able to find a matching pair of sock I could scream.
Now socks are not the only thing to disappear at my house. I bought a new outfit a couple of weeks ago now today I cannot find the pants that go with it. What happened to them all the wash is caught up. Ziploc containers disappear as well at my house we either has all containers and no lids or all lids an no containers. Spoons also disappear.
Do these things just grow legs and walk away? No body in my house has an explanation as to where things go.
