So much

So its been a very long time since I updated my blog but life has been spinning me in circles lately, if its not one thing its another.
So here is an update for now.
Jake has a full time job now.. he is working for Titan Heating and air... what a relief to have him working.. he bought himself a car. He is a great daddy to Ayden and the love he has for Liz just amazes me.. oh how I remember the days of young love.
Lindsee started High school in August.. WOW.. my kids are growing up. Sometimes I feel old and other days I still feel like a spring chicken.
Jeff and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on September 22. It is hard to believe we have been married 20 years, it seems like yesterday we were young and in love. Now the every day challenges of live keep us so busy that I think we take for granted what we have.
I am so grateful for the love of my family and the love that Jeff gives to me.
I am so enjoying being a Grandma...what a wonderful thing!!!!

My Grandson Ayden

As you start a family I am not sure you ever dream of having to let them grow up. As our kids have grown and made choices of their own they continue to learn. The hardest thing for a parent is to let go and let your kids grow and spread their own wings. Jeff and I have never believed in sheltering our kids,we have always felt that they learn better by "testing" their waters. we have raised 2 GREAT KIDS and have welcomed a wonderful future daughter in law and grandson in to our lives. Not only am I grateful for my kids but for Liz as well. What a wonderful and loving young woman our son has chosen.
Ayden Bruce Hay was born on 07/30/2009 @ 5:04 AM weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz and 21 inches long and what a gorgeous baby he is!!!(I'm not a proud grandma or anything)

So much

So much has happened in our lives the past few weeks I don't even know where to begin. I am extremely behind on my blogs which is no surprise.
Sometimes life throws you lemons and you have to make lemonade right?
I am not one to question the Lord as to why things happen or as to say "why me".
All I can say is I am very grateful for what I have!!

NAUVOO

Back in February Jeff and I decided that we would like to go to Nauvoo. I have a good friend from High School that lives in Chicago. Well Jason and Liberty invited us to go to Nauvoo with them over Memorial Day weekend. SO we bought our plane tickets and we felt like the time would never get here for us to go.
I cannot put into words how this trip made us feel. Not only did we learn church history but wow what a testimony strengthener. We loved it in Illinois so much we even said we were going to move there.
Next year we plan on going again.
I had not seen Jason in 20 years and never met his wife Liberty and his son Tanner. Jeff had NEVER met Jason and they hit it off like they had been friends forever!
THANKS JASON AND LIBERTY FOR A WONDERFUL TRIP!!!

Funny

Jeff and I leave for Nauvoo in 12 days...While we are there thanks to my best friend Jason.. Jeff and Jason will be going into Fry's electronics where Jason works.. and for those of you that know Jeff you know that he LOVES electronics..We go to the mall or to Best Buy and he gets lost and I just end up leaving and going to wait in the car. SO with that being said.. I asked Jason to please use one of these on Jeff so that he will at least return home with me and not be lost in Fry's...................

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Mom I love you.. thanks for not only being my mom but my best friend.. thanks for allowing me to learn from my mistakes and letting me spread my own wings.. I know it has not been easy. I appreciate everything you do for me and my family.

A Mothers Love

To some love is just a word
To me it's a feeling
A feeling I get every time I look into your eyes
A feeling I get when I realize your my mom
A mom who loves, shares, A mom who inspires
Unconditionally
What's that?
That's love
A mothers love, but only you would know
And me
You returned that love time and time again
Possibly to much, nevertheless you did
Thank-you
Thank-you for being there when I needed you most
For being my rock when I should have been yours
Thank-you for believing in me, even when I doubted myself
For being the one person I could trust
No matter what, no matter where
But most of all thank-you for being you-my mom
A mom I am so proud to claim
I love you
Now and forever

JROTC

This year Jeff and I had the wonderful opportunity to be the parent coordinators for the JROTC program at Taylorsville High School. What a wonderful program this is. I have watched these cadets over the years grow and mature. I have watched my own son grow from a child.. to a man!!!! What an amazing program this is. When Jake first told us he wanted to join the JROTC we thought he was nuts. However, now 3 years later, we are so glad he did!! Jake has worked so hard on all of the teams, Rifle, Raider, Color Guard and I cannot remember what else.
WE ARE PROUD OF YOU JAKE!!!!!!

Temple Square

Yesterday while Jeff and I were out and about for his birthday we decided to go to Temple Square. What an amazing place. Although the grounds are under construction it does not interfere with he spirit. My camera is not working and is on it's way to Sony to be repair so we can get it back before our trip to Nauvoo, anyway we took these pictures with my phone. I think they turned out great!

This picture was taken from inside the South Visitors Center, from a room called the "Temple View Room"

Did you know?

Bounce is a wonderful fabric softner, but did you know there are many other uses for this product? Try some of these ...

* It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.

* It also repels mice ... spread some sheets around the foundation areas of your home. In cars that are just sitting, leave some sheets around the interior, they will keep mice from entering your vehicle.

* It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

* Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season, it will repel them!

* To eliminate static electricity from your television or computer screen, wipe the screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

* To dissolve soap scum from shower doors, clean then with a sheet of Bounce.

* Freshen the air in your home by placing an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang one in the closet.

* To keep your vacuum cleaner smelling fresh, put a Bounce sheet in it.

* Prevent thread from tangling ... run a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

* To keep suitcases from smelling musty, place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing it.

* Freshen the air in your car by placing a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

* Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food.

* Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

* Remove animal hair from furniture or clothes by rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce. It will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

* Eliminate static electricity from mini blinds. Wipe them with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

* Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

* Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

* Deodorize shoes or sneakers by placing a Bounce sheet in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

* Golfers put a Bounce sheet in your back pocket to keep the bees away.

* Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them, it will keep them smelling fresh.

* Rainy day cure for dog odor ... The next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe him down with a Bounce sheet. Instantly your dog smell springtime fresh.

Gotta Love them

Lindsee has been sick all week with pneumonia. It has been a very long week, but you know when they are starting to feel better because they get VERY grouchy. On Friday Lindsee kept asking me to go to Jo Ann's to get her a craft to do. Why she wants another craft I have no clue she has 4 latch hooks she is working on.
So last night when Jeff got home from work in his nightly routine he comes and gives me a hug and kiss and lets me know he is home then he makes the rounds with the kids except last night Jake was with him.Jeff went up stairs to give Lindsee a hug and kiss and could not find her. He came back down stairs and was panicked at which time I woke up and said "what is wrong" Jeff said " I cannot find my daughter that's what is wrong" I FLEW out of bed in the same panic that Jeff was in and Jake as well.(Now might I add this was midnight.) We are searching for her and I woke up my parents and asked where Lindsee was because she was not in her "normal" places of where she likes to sleep. Well come to find out she had decided to sleep UNDER her bed because she thought it would be cooler there. Go figure.
She did write us a note and taped it to her door telling us where she was, but what parent when in a panic looks for a note taped to a door? Not us.
So today when I was helping her clean her room I came across this note from Lindsee:
Dear Mom,
Please do not come in my room until I get something to do from Jo Ann's.
Thank you,
Lindsee Hay

I laughed so hard I thought I was going to pee my pants. Apparently she is feeling better enough to be a brat. But you got to love them

Friendship

I received this in an e mail from a good friend and I wanted to share it!

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word 'refrigeration' mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched 'Jeopardy' on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, 'How about going to lunch in a half hour?' She would gas up and stammer, 'I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain.' And my personal favorite: 'It's Monday.' She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!

We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Steve toilet-trained.. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet... We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of 'I'm going to,' 'I plan on,' and 'Someday, when things are settled down a bit.'

When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Roller blades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord..

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now..go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to . . . . . . not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this to you.

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butter fly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask ' How are you?' Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, 'We'll do it tomorrow .' And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say 'Hi?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift.....Thrown away ...... Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over..

I cherish our friendship and appreciate all you do, but mostly just you being you.

'Life may not be the party we hoped for.... but while we are here we might as well dance!

3rd time is the charm..

Lindsee is missing a total of 7 that is right SEVEN teeth that includes wisdom teeth. When she was in 3rd grade she got her first set of braces, they were on for a short period of time, just to start the LONG process. Then in 5th grade she got set #2. They had to create space for teeth implants. Well she got that set of in 7th grade and we were told by the orthodontist that we did not need to worry about seeing the specialist until she was 17 or 18 because they would not do implants on kids until they were between the ages of 18-21.
Well last week my gut told me to go see the specialist, and I am glad I did because her teeth have moved even though she was been 100% faithful about wearing her retainer. Well to tell you the truth it is not the space between her teeth that has moves it is more the roots have shifted and there is not enough space for the implants.
SO round #3 of braces starts Wednesday. This time around she should only have to be in them for 4-6 months and once her teeth are where they need to be she will get the implants that way her teeth will not move!
I think $7000 on 3 sets of braces is a lot, but the fact that my daughter will not we ashamed to smile will be priceless!!!

Amazing

When Jeff and I met we each had a friend that we went EVERY WHERE with. A few weeks ago I reconnected with my good friend Judy. Judy and I had not seen each other since she was one of my bridesmaids almost 20 years ago. Well and now because of Facebook we found each other again and it is like we never lost a beat.
Well Jeff's friend Tomas is another story, we lost track of him almost 18 years ago. He moved to New York well before Jeff and I were married in 1989. We used to write letters and talk to each other on the phone. Well the last time we spoke to Tomas was March of 1991 I was pregnant with Jake and watching the news as the Gulf War broke out. I remember this all too clearly like it was yesterday. Jeff was at work and Tomas and I were talking about the baby and our lives and Tomas was telling me he was joining the police academy and going to become a NYC police officer. Well as time went on we lost contact. I watched my hubby's heart brake as we lost contact with Tomas.
We have searched and searched for him. We looked through dex on line and any thing we could do to try to find Tomas. We came to the conclusion that he must have been killed in 09/11, which of course broke our hearts, like you could not believe.
Well Tuesday, while I was home sick, I logged into my e mail and to my surprise I had a friend request from Tomas,I cried. Jeff was not home and when he got home he wondered. #1 why I was out of bed and #2 why I was crying. So through the tears in my eyes I pulled up my facebook page and showed Jeff a picture of my "new" friend. He was shocked and also cried along with me.Jeff has refused to join facebook, but now that we found Tomas he is a facebook person.
There has been something "missing" in our life for the past 18 years and now as I look at my hubby and see the happiness in his eyes I now know that Tomas was the thing missing. Tomas is back (even though he lives in NY) and he is here to STAY. My kids now know that "Uncle" Tomas really does exist and he is not a figment of our imagination!

BJ

My nephew BJ will be leaving on his mission Wednesday. Last night we had a big dinner with family and close friends. Today was his farewell and open house. What a wonderful young man. We have watched him grow from a baby into the wonderful young man he is today. BJ will be a wonderful missionary and there are so many people out there waiting to hear the gospel, and I know he will do a great job of sharing his testimony with others!

Big Decision

I have always wanted to go to college. But I never graduated from High School, well that is until June of 2008. I have pondered the idea of going to college fro several months now and finally with the encouragement from my wonderful husband a a few great friends I finally made that decision.
Starting February 24th I Will start school at the University of Phoenix, to get my bachelor's in Psychology.
To be totally honest I am scared to death, I am afraid of failure. But I know I can do it. I also know it will be a lot of hard work and dedication as well of support from my family!

Funny

I received this in an e mail this morning and thought it was funny. Hope you do too!

Giving Up Chocolate

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly

dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of

dollars for dinner. I took out my wallet, got out twenty dollars and asked,

'If I give you this money, will you buy chocolate with it instead of dinner?'

'No, I had to stop eating chocolate years ago', the homeless woman told me.

'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.

'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.'

'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.

'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman. I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!'

'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm

going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'

The homeless Woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with

you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'

I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what awoman looks

like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and chocolate.'

Tag 6 of 6

I read Tasha's blog so I was tagged
Here's the game:
1) Go to your picture folder, or wherever you store your photos on your computer
2) Go to the sixth folder and pick the sixth picture
3) Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes along with the picture
4) Tag four friends to do the same

My parents have a pool and we all love to swim even the dogs. Spook (white lab) Loves Lindsee as you can see but he can hardly wait to get back into the pool. Buck chocolate lab) on the other hand has to go to the other end of the pool to check on Jake.
I am not sure what is more fun watching the kids swim or the dogs fetching the ball out of the pool.

FAMILIES ARE FOREVER

All because we fell in love...

We created....

and now we are a...

I have a fantastic family. I was raised by wonderful parents who taught me right from wrong and good from bad, they taught me respect. They always let me spread my own wings to learn from my mistakes. They made me the person who I am today.
I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, cousin and friend!
Now that I have my own little family, I cherish every moment with them. I have a wonderful husband who I love with all of my heart and soul and two fantastic kids, and I would do anything for any of them at a drop of a hat.I have 3 great brothers and sister-in-laws, I have 4 nieces and 6 nephews whom I love dearly whether or not we all get along ( that is another story)
Now I know that families are not perfect and every family has issues, I know some are hard and some are easy. I have seen many families torn apart for one reason or another and I just wish they could all mend the fences and begin to be a family again.
I pray for these families that the healing can begin and they can be families again!!
